Ellis Ebell

Ellis was born in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) in 1946, arriving in Australia at age two.  After spending most of his working life in the welfare sector, he recently retired allowing more time to follow his love of theatre and acting.  While still working, Ellis managed to find time to make several movies and television shows by taking leave from his job as a social worker.

Ellis also does voice-over work for training films.  Having a quick ear for accents has allowed Ellis to portray a number of different ethnic characters from European, Asian, American, to a number of English dialects.

Ellis enjoys swimming, riding his bike, cooking and maintaining a fairly large garden at his cottage in Daylesford.

He has been an active member of Williamstown Little Theatre for over 40 years appearing in over 50 productions with that company as well as working with other companies in Melbourne.  He has also appeared in a number of musicals and until recently spent seven years as a judge for the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria.  He has been the recipient of a number of awards, most recently (2003) winning the Best Actor award at Williamstown for his role as Wilfred Bond in “Quartet” by Ronald Harwood.
