Raymund A. Hare

Ray has been actively involved in his passion for theatre for more than half of his 60 plus years. Performing a wide range of roles with various companies across Melbourne’s suburbs in over 30 productions. Due to pressure in his working life in Sales/Purchasing ,Ray could not  get away  to present himself for professional acting opportunities as frequently as he would have wished, until now ,due to his recent retirement.

When his “9 to 5” work load was less demanding , he was successful in obtaining roles in  various TV series, including; Division 4, Cop Shop, Homicide, Prisoner, Carson's Law. He also appeared in telemovies: “The Keepers”, and “The Good Wife”,  for the ABC , and a number of commercials for producers such as Ford , Sunbeam, SEC, Esky, etc..

Ray lives with his wife and two dogs ,on their own “mini-Paradise” of  4 ½ acres at Greendale .His other passions are his three grand-daughters, golf, cinema and music

Ray found  his love for acting initially through popular musicals ,but quickly gravitated to dramatic works by many of  our contemporary greats such as Lawler, Gow, Nowra, Williamson, Gurr, Elisha, etc.

The now defunct Pumpkin Theatre twice honoured Ray with their Best Actor Award- for the role of “Roo”, in “Summer of the Seventeenth Doll”, and for the role of  “Doc” ,in “Come Back Little Sheba”. He also received Williamstown Little Theatre’s Best Actor in a Supporting Role Award for the part of “Dr.Yahuda”, in “Hysteria”.
